(Spirit Lake)—It’s hard to believe, but for many area kids the start of a new school year is in a little more than a month from now. That has Upper Des Moines Opportunity gearing up for its annual “Back To School Program”. Laurie Ruuf of the Spirit Lake UDMO office tells KUOO news the program helps boost the self-esteem of less privileged youth in the area by giving them the resources to purchase back to school clothes and supplies. She encourages parents of those kids to apply for the program as soon as possible…(click here for comment.)
“Come to our office, it’s a very simple process. We are going to give them a wonderful shopping night at Bomgaars August 11th. They get to choose $150 worth of new clothes and we also have a variety of school supplies for them. A wonderful opportunity. We just want everybody to know that.” Are you still looking for donations as well? “Oh we’re always looking for donations. But I want to make sure that none of the children get left behind, so if you think you have a need for this please, please call us or stop by.”
