(Arnolds Park)– This past weekend’s University of Okoboji Homecoming races was one for the record books. Kiley Zankowski is with the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce…
“You know it was a record breaking year for us and the U of O for this event. We were just so excited to welcome over a thousand people from 21 different states and three different countries to participate in this year’s event.”
Zankowski says this marked the 46th year for the U of O Homecoming events and was the second year the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce has been in charge…
“We’ve always been involved and assisted with aspects, but the last two years have been fully under the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber’s umbrella.”
Zankowski thanks everyone who made the events possible again this year…
“We definitely want to thank all of our sponsors and of course all of our volunteers. We had people all over the place from directing traffic to handing out metals, handing out beverages. It truly takes a village to welcome a thousand people plus their friends and family. It takes a huge crew and it wouldn’t be possible without all hands on deck.”
She says they’re already planning for next year…
“It’s always the third Saturday in July so mark your calendars for July 20th, 2024.”
