(Spirit Lake)—Multiple injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision shortly before 6:00 a.m. Monday on Highways 9 and 71 just east of Spirit Lake.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Victor Vetsouvanh of Mountain Lake, Mn. was westbound when he collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Joaquin Ramos-Lopez of Estherville who had slowed to turn into a private driveway.
Ramos-Lopez and three passengers in his vehicle…Rodrigo Ramos, Juan Lopes-Torres and Juaquin Padron-Morales all of Estherville were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. Ramos-Lopez, Ramos and Lopes-Torres were treated for non-incapacitating injuries, while incapacitating injuries were reported to Padron-Morales. Vetsouvanh sustained possible injuries but wasn’t taken to the hospital.
$5,000 in damage to a 1999 Isuzu driven by Ramos-Lopez and to a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup driven by Vetsouvanh.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spirit Lake Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, the Spirit Lake First Responders, Spirit Lake ambulance and the Terril ambulance.
