November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Friday at the intersection of Highway 71 and 30th Street in Spirit Lake sent three people to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say 17-year-old Kelsey Stewart of Spirit Lake was turning left from Highway 71 onto 30th Street when she collided with a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Brian Hamilton of Spencer who was southbound on Highway 71.

Both drivers and a passenger in the vehicle driven by Stewart, 16-year-old Katelyn Houser of Spirit Lake, were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no immediate information available on their condition or extent of injuries.

$5,000 in damage was estimated to a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by Stewart; a 1990 Cadillac Deville driven by Hamilton sustained an estimated $4,000 in damage.

Stewart was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn.
