Two Store Clerks Shot To Death In Kossuth County

November 22, 2014

(Algona)– Authorities say two store clerks have been shot to death in attempted burglaries at two convenience stores in Algona and Humboldt, and a suspect is in custody.

Kossuth County Attorney Todd Holmes says one clerk was shot about 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Crossroads Gas Station in Algona. Holmes says another clerk was shot and killed about 10:30 p.m. at the Kum and Go in Humboldt, about 25 miles south of Algona.

Holmes says a suspect in both shootings was taken into custody just before midnight Monday in Webster City. The suspect was taken to the Kossuth county jail in Algona.

Holmes says the names of the clerks and the suspect have not been released. He expects to release more information later this (Tues.) morning.
