(Spirit Lake)– A drug investigation by the Spirit Lake Police Department has led to the arrests of two men on multiple charges. Criminal complaints identify them as 39-year-old Charles Leissler and 37-year-old Jason Burton, both of Spirit Lake. The arrests stem from a search warrant police executed around 8:00 am Thursday at 912 10th Street in Spirit Lake.
Burton was charged with three counts each of unlawful possession of a prescription drug and controlled substance violations along with one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Leissler was charged with one count of possession of a prescription drug, three counts of a controlled substance violation, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Leissler and Burton were each additionally charged with person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons. Court documents allege Leissler was in possession of a loaded 9 millimeter handgun and that Burton was allegedly in possession of ammunition.
Both men are accused of possessing quantities of ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute.
Leissler and Burton were both arrested Thursday and were booked into the Dickinson County Jail.
