(Spirit Lake)—Two officers with the Spirit Lake Police Department were injured late Saturday night while investigating a disturbance in a street on the city’s south side.
Police say officers were called to the scene in the 3400 block of Keokuk Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m. Following the altercation, officers arrested 30-year-old Corey Hanson of Spirit Lake on charges of disorderly conduct, assault on a peace officer, interference with official acts and willful injury.
Police also arrested 30-year-old Eric Hanson of Spirit Lake on charges of interference with official acts and assault on a peace officer.
Both were booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Authorities say one of the Spirit Lake police officers was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare for treatment of a head laceration; the other sought treatment a little later. Both were treated and released.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
