(Johnston)– Two O’Brien county farmers are seeking a seat on the Iowa Corn Promotion Board.
Lowell Appleton of Sanborn and Roger Vander Veen of Hartley are running for one of five seats that will be voted on Tuesday, July 12th at Iowa State University Extension Offices.
Elections are being held this year in crop reporting districts 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9. A portion of the seats on the 17-member board are up for election next year.
Anyone who has produced and marketed 250 bushels of corn or more in Iowa in the previous year is eligible to vote.
Other producers interested in running for the board can get on the ballot by filing a nomination petition with the Iowa Corn Promotion Board no later than 4:30 p.m. May 14th. Petitions are available by contacting the Iowa Corn Promotion Board office at (515) 225-9242.
