Two NW Iowans Among Those Applying For Iowa Court Of Appeals Vacancy

(Des Moines)– A vacancy later this year on the Iowa Court of Appeals has drawn interest from 22 lawyers and judges, including two from our area.

Chief Judge Larry Eisenhauer is retiring September 30th and the Judicial Nominating Commission is taking applications to fill the vacancy.

The 17-member commission has meetings set for August 21st and 22nd for interviews and to select three finalists to forward to Governor Terry Branstad. He will have 30 days to appoint the new judge.

Among the applicants is Randy Waagmeester of Rock Rapids and Peter Hart of Emmetsburg.
