(Rock Rapids/Inwood) – Lyon County authorities are investigating a pair of hit-and-run incidents from late-August. The first occurred on Wednesday, August 24 just before midnight on the 200-block of 1st Avenue in Rock Rapids. According to the police report, a truck hauling a trailer attempted to make a turn into an alley between Story and Marshall Streets when it struck the Vander Zee Dental building. The driver then fled the scene. The structure sustained approximately $6,000 in damage, while the trailer left behind a light and light cover. Anyone with information on this incident is being asked to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The second hit-and-run incident happened on Wednesday in Inwood. Reports indicate that a truck hauling metal on a trailer pulled into the Mickel’s Corner Gas Station parking lot around 3:30pm and scratched much of the rear and driver side panels with the metal. A surveillance camera caught the event and also shows two white males in the late-20s or early 30s leaving the car to enter the convenience store. They eventually made their way southbound on Highway 18. Again anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
