October 26, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Sioux City)– Three people have been sentenced in a federal drug case that has ties to northwest Iowa.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 41-year-old Andrea Romo of Gardena, California, 62-year-old Lauretta Payce of Fontana, California, and 38-year-old Jason Werner of Cherokee, Iowa, pleaded guilty in June of this year to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Federal authorities say the three were involved in conspiracies that distributed methamphetamine and marijuana from California and Nevada to Cherokee, Iowa for distribution.

Romo was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison while Payce will serve a little more than five years behind bars. Werner was sentenced to a little more than three years in prison. All three are in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
