An accident in Clay County leads to the arrest of two men for assault. Clay County Deputies responded to the scene of an accident on North Sleeper Street in Everly, and during the course of the investigation, authorities learned that the driver, Rhys Nehman of Everly had previously pulled a knife on another man in the neighborhood and threatened to hurt him.
According to police records, Nehman came to the aid of a 15-year old Evely teen who was involved in an altercation with another man. The two then fled the scene, leading to the accident. No other details of the altercation or the accident were released.
Authorities charged Nehman with assault, which is an aggravated misdemeanor. He was released on bond. The 15-year old was sent to the Cherokee YES Center for detention. Police were able to seize the knife used in the incident.
