(Wahpeton)– A dredging operation at Turtle Lake adjacent to West Lake Okoboji and the canals in Wahpeton is underway, and backers of the project are now looking at expanding the operation to include what’s known as Paddler’s Path and Wilderness Way.
Dredging operations for Turtle Lake itself are being funded through grants and donations. Supporters are hoping others will come forward to help out with the additional areas. The cost for dredging Paddler’s Path and Wilderness Way has been estimated at $800,000. They add it makes sense to do the additional dredging now as the equipment and crews are already mobilized, saving an additional $80,000 in expenses.
