Tubing Hill At Horseshoe Bend To Open This Weekend For The First Time In A Couple Of Years

December 04, 2025

(Milford)– All of the snow and cold means a popular winter attraction southwest of Milford will be able to open this weekend for the first time in years. Amy Heibult is in charge of public relations for the Dickinson County Conservation Board which operates the Horseshoe Bend Recreational Area…

“We’re actually going to be open for the first weekend in probably a couple of years now. This Saturday and Sunday, December 6th and 7th from 11:00 to 5:00. The location of the tubing hill is out at 1924 240th Street in Milford. We provide tubes to rent, you can go down the hill for $15 per person. You can get a day pass. We do only take cash or check so make sure you plan ahead for that. There is no ATM out there just with service, difficult. We have a large tubing hill with a tow rope that’s available, an automated tow rope, so it will pull you back up the hill so you can have hours of fun. You can bring personal tubes and sleds but they’re only allowed on the shorter hill east of the warming house.”

Heibult says various amenities are available to help you make a day of it…

“There is heated bathrooms just outside of the warming house. The warming house itself has a really awesome central fireplace. We add logs all day long, so you can bring your own marshmallows and supplies to like roast marshmallows or hotdogs. We also have concessions available like hot cocoa, popcorn, other goodies, soda, chips available for purchase inside.”

Heibult says the hours of operation at Horseshoe Bend will be dependent upon conditions…

“If conditions are suitable and there’s enough snowpack on the hill, we will make announcements on our Facebook page and our website at the tubing hill page, of open weekends. We’ll post that the Friday prior to the weekend.”
