(Terril)– An Iowa State Patrol trooper can tell you what it’s like when a deer runs out in front of you. That very thing happened earlier this week to a trooper in Dickinson county.
The State Patrol says the trooper was westbound on County Road A-22 about a half mile east of County Road N-14 when a deer ran onto the road out of the south ditch. It struck the patrol vehicle in the front fender area, rebounded to the driver’s door, the struck the rear door.
No injuries were reported to the trooper. It was different, though, for the deer, which had to be put down.
The patrol vehicle, a 2009 Dodge Charger, sustained an estimated $2,025 in damage.
The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
