(Spirit Lake)– Trial for one of the two suspects charged in a carjacking in October of last year in Okoboji has been scheduled. Online court records show a jury trial for 27-year-old Vaughn Harris is scheduled to begin April 7th in Dickinson County District Court. Harris was charged with robbery in the 1st degree, willful injury causing serious injury, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, assault displaying a dangerous weapon to a pregnant person and theft in the 1st degree. He pled not guilty to the charges last month. Harris remains held in the Dickinson County Jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
The other person charged in the case, Jessica Nordrum, has pled guilty to charges against her. She was scheduled to be sentenced Monday of this week in Dickinson County District Court, but online court records show that has been re-scheduled for April 13th.
Harris and Nordrum are accused of forcing a pregnant woman out of her vehicle in the parking lot at Lake Okoboji Resort, the former Arrowwood in Okoboji, on October 13th of last year. Court documents say the two then took off in the vehicle, running over the victim in the process, seriously injuring her. Harris and Nordrum were eventually caught after leading authorities on a pursuit near Blue Earth, Minnesota later the same day. The two are from the Twin Cities area.
