Trial For Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting An Algona Police Officer Set To Begin

July 08, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Algona)– The first-degree murder trial of the man accused of killing an Algona Police Officer is set to begin in Dickinson County after being delayed due to flooding in northwestern Iowa. The trial was moved from Algona to Spirit Lake, with Kyle Ricke’s defense team requesting a continuance due to one lawyer dealing with flooding in their home. Concerns about potential jurors in Dickinson County needing to focus on flood recovery also factored into the decision to delay the trial.
