(Sibley)– No injuries were reported Monday when a train collided with a gravel trailer pulled by a tractor.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says the tractor was being operated by 49-year-old Steven Boerhave of Ashton. Authorities say Boerhave was attempting to cross some railroad tracks west of Highway 60 at 250th Street when a northbound Union Pacific train collided with the trailer, knocking it into the north ditch where it flipped onto its top.
The tractor and trailer driven by Boerhave sustained an estimated $25,000 in damage; damage to the train’s locomotive was estimated at $20,000.
Boerhave was cited for failure to stop a cargo vehicle at a railroad crossing.
The incident took place around 1:45 p.m.
