(Lake Park)– Progress continues on the trail system in the Lake Park area. Erin Reed of Dickinson County Trails says construction on the trail system in the city itself has resumed following a break over the winter…
“The contractor is back here working on the trail from Market Street here in downtown going east 3.7 miles and it almost got completed last year but the weather kind of put a stop to us, so he’s back out there getting it finished up. There’s some crossings that he’s been working on at 160th which is open and 170th which is now paved, but will open up in a couple of days, we have to let the concrete cure out. And then he’ll come back over here and finish up by the elevator and get that piece completed. He’s hoping that we’ll be open early June for use.”
Reed says a bid letting will be held soon for the final stretch of the Ta Tanka Ska Trace trail that will connect Spirit Lake with Lake Park…
“We’re going to have a letting date in July to complete the project. There’s a two and-a-half mile gap from Montgomery going west to connect up here with Lake Park and that letting is July 18th and we have a completion date on that of July 26th, 2024, but we’re really hopeful that we get a contractor here that can do a lot of work this fall and get it done so that we just have to wrap up a few things in the spring and get it going. It will be very exciting.”
Dickinson county trails is also gearing up for its major fundraising event of the year. We’ll have details on that next week.
