Trail Loop, New Amenities Planned Near Pearson Lakes Arts Center

February 15, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– More improvements are in the works for the Dickinson County Trails System. Trails Director Erin Reed says plans are underway for a trail loop near the Pearson Lakes Art Center…

“We’re currently partnering with the Pearson Lakes Arts Center and we’re looking at making a connection with the Nature Center Trail that goes around the pond and we’ll do some art installations. There will be pedestals that will be rotating sculptures and some interactive art things that we could do, and a tree house, a really big, fancy tree house we’re looking at doing, so. Kind of combining the arts, trails, nature and making a destination point for that, so.”

Reed added that work is now underway on the final 2.5 mile segment of rail trail known as Tatanka Ska Trace, connecting Spirit Lake and Lake Park. She says the final segment is scheduled to be completed this coming July 26th, or even earlier thanks to the recent mild weather.

Reed gave the updates as part of her annual report to several city councils this week.
