(Wahpeton)– Motorists traveling on Highway 86 on the west side of West Lake Okoboji will have to take an alternate route beginning today (Tuesday 9/8).
Engineers on the project to extend the Dickinson county recreational trails around the west side of West Lake Okoboji say Highway 86 will be closed effective today (Tuesday 9/8) just north of the entrance to Village West Resort. The closure is expected to last about a week.
Following that, the road will be closed just north of 155th Street, or the southwest corner of Cutty’s Resort. That location will be closed for about a week as well.
Officials say the closures are needed to build some tunnels in those areas where the trail will cross under the highway.
