(Spencer)—A 17-year-old juvenile female from Spencer faces drug charges following a traffic stop Monday evening on Highway 18 in Clay county.
The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy made the stop in connection with a traffic violation. Upon investigating the deputy could smell marijuana in the vehicle and observed tobacco products in it. He also knew the driver was 17.
Upon further investigation, what’s alleged to be marijuana and 16 hydrocodone pills were located on the suspect’s person. The juvenile was transported to the Clay county jail and was cited into juvenile court. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; possession of a controlled substance…hydrocodone; and a drug tax stamp violation.
The juvenile was released to the custody of her mother.
