(Spencer)– A traffic stop Friday in Clay county resulted in a drug charge against a Spencer resident.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy could smell burnt marijuana when he pulled over a vehicle on a Clay county road shortly before 4:00 p.m. Upon searching the vehicle the deputy found what’s alleged to be a marijuana pipe and a baggie of marijuana.
The driver, 50-year-old Gay Phelps of Spencer, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance–marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Phelps was booked into the Clay county jail and was later released on bond.
