Traffic Stop Results In Drug Arrests

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—A traffic stop last Friday in Clay county landed two men in jail on drug charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle shortly after 5:30 p.m. Upon investigating it was determined the driver, 19-year-old Ty Jackson of Spencer, had allegedly been smoking marijuana. Authorities say Jackson turned over a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia to a deputy as he was undergoing field sobriety tests.

Upon further investigation officers made contact with a passenger identified as 20-year-old Ryan Dodge of Spencer, who admitted to using Jackson’s marijuana pipe to smoke marijuana in the vehicle. A subsequent search of Dodge turned up what’s alleged to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Jackson and Dodge were booked into jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance…marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities say an additional charge of operating under the influence may be filed against Jackson pending results of tests from the DCI crime lab.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department.
