Traffic Stop Results In Charges Against Estherville Man

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop Friday night in Spirit Lake landed an Estherville man in jail on multiple charges.

Spirit Lake police say it took place shortly after 10:00 p.m. when an officer pulled over a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Patrick Moffitt of Estherville for a routine traffic stop.

Upon further investigation the officer discovered a green leafy substance alleged to be marijuana along with prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Moffitt was arrested and booked into the Dickinson county jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance…first offense…a serious misdemeanor; prohibited acts…an aggravated misdemeanor; unlawful possession of prescription drugs…a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor; failure to obey a stop sign…a simple misdemeanor; and operation without insurance…also a simple misdemeanor.
