Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Spencer Man On Drug Charges

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A traffic stop earlier this week landed a Spencer man in jail on drug charges and on a warrant.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Monday knowing that the driver, 24-year-old Josh Springer, had a suspended driver’s license and that he was wanted on two valid warrants out of Dallas county. Springer was arrested and taken to the Clay county jail.

A search warrant was then served on Springer’s vehicle which turned up items consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Springer was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of driving while suspended and possession of lithium with intent to manufacture methamphetamine…a class “D” felony.

Springer was also being held on two Dallas county warrants charging him with assault causing bodily injury and failure to appear.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and the additional arrests and charges are expected. Anyone with information regarding the case should contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Crime Stoppers, or the Sheriff’s Text-A-Tip program.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in its investigation by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Clay County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Great Lakes Drug Task Force.
