(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop early Sunday in Spirit Lake resulted in the arrest of a man on drunk driving and drug charges.
Spirit Lake police say an officer pulled over a silver Jeep Liberty shortly after 2:30 a.m. near the Highway 9 and 71 junction in Spirit Lake for a traffic-related violation. Upon investigating, the driver, 28-year-old Andrew Helmers of Spirit Lake, was found to be allegedly operating his vehicle while intoxicated.
Helmers was also found to be in possession of what’s alleged to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated…first offense; possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Helmers was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
