(Ames, IA) — Traffic deaths in Iowa are down slightly compared to last year.
The Iowa Department of Transportation says there have been 335 deaths on Iowa roads this year. That number is down from 348 deaths in 2021, but still five more than the five-year average for the state.
The Iowa State Patrol with the D-O-T is launching the “What Drives You?” campaign to help Iowans make better decisions on the road in the new year. They say just less than half of people involved in deadly crashes this year were wearing a seatbelt.
