(Arnolds Park)-A popular group will return to The Roof Garden this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The sensational a capella group, Tonic Sol Fa, will perform their holiday concert at The Roof Garden Ballroom on Friday night.
Lead Singer Shaun Johnson says, the award-winning group has refreshed their show and is out on what they’re calling The Misfit Tour. “We try to make it new and of course, service some of the requests that people had throughout the years but, Northwest Iowa is such a cool place for us, obviously I grew up in that area and now I live in Sioux Falls. It’s just so cool to revisit it and see how much it’s changed and see a lot of familiar faces. Every year we just try to make it new, try to make it exciting, and, you know, this has been many, many years of the tour that we self-produce so that makes it even more exciting for us.”
He adds that the group often throws some twists into their performances. “We have a lawn ornament that makes appearances in our shows, Plastic Santa. That is sort of a love-hate relationship, depending on the fan. Some people come just for that, some people are like, please never do that again, so it just depends on who you ask. We have made it snow, we have special guests, it’s all sorts of craziness. You never know what we’re going to do. It’s a holiday show, and that’s one of the things we love about it.”
Tonic Sol Fa will take the stage at 7:30 Friday night.
