(Titonka)– Multiple charges have been filed against a Titonka man following an incident Sunday morning at an apartment complex in that town.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the complex at 324 1st Avenue Northeast a little after 7:30 am after getting a report of a man pounding on an apartment door claiming to be law enforcement. The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Shawn Krug. Authorities say Krug, who lives in the complex, barricaded himself in his apartment. They say Krug then allegedly threw an object through a window as law enforcement was attempting to talk to him. The object nearly struck an officer. After efforts to communicate with Krug failed, a taser was deployed on him. A physical confrontation ensued with Krug allegedly striking an officer in the face.
Krug was eventually taken into custody and was taken to a hospital where he was checked over by medical personnel. Krug was then transported to the Kossuth county jail where he was charged with one count of impersonating a public official, two counts of harassment, one count of interference with official acts, two counts of assault on a peace officer, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal mischief.
The injured officer was treated at a hospital in Algona for a facial laceration which required stitches.
