Three-Vehicle Collision Results In Minor Injuries

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– A three-vehicle chain reaction-type collision late Tuesday afternoon in Sibley sent one person to the hospital.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Alina Funk of Sibley was northbound on ninth Avenue attempting to make a left turn onto Maple Drive, while 37-year-old Thomas Doeden of Sibley was behind Funk and had slowed. A third vehicle driven by 17-year-old Kayla Leckband of Ocheyedan came upon the scene and didn’t see Doeden’s brakelights, causing her to rear-end the vehicle driven by Doeden. The impact caused Doeden’s vehicle to collide with the one driven by Funk.

Deoden was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

850-dollars in damage was estimated to a 2003 Town and Country van driven by Funk; extensive damage was reported to a 1994 GMC Sonoma pickup driven by Doeden and to a 2003 Town and Country van driven by Leckband.

Leckband was cited for failure to maintain control.

Sibley Fire and Rescue and the Sibley ambulance assisted on the scene.

The collision took place shortly before 4:30 p.m.
