This Year’s Clay County Fair Will Feature A Drone Show

August 04, 2025

(Spencer)– This year’s Clay County Fair will feature a drone show. Fair General Manager Jason Brockshus says it will be held in conjunction with a grandstand event…

“And this year we have a new event on Wednesday of the fair, it’s Bulls and Broncs. And as some of you know, I was a farmer for the past couple of decades and managed a dairy farm, had livestock and grew cattle and I thought you know, we don’t need to have fireworks over top of these pens of buckin’ bulls and buckin’ horses, so we worked with Sky Elements out of Texas. They were actually on America’s Got Talent, so a lot of you have probably seen their work. If you go on YouTube search up Sky Elements and they have all sorts of different drone shows. So partnering with them, doing lots of fair-centric pictures, photos, working with our in house staff, they’re awesome to work with. You’re going to know it’s specifically designed for the Clay County Fair when you see it, but that will be Wednesday evening after the Bulls and Broncs.”

Brockshus says the drone show will be open to those not just attending the Bulls and Broncs event…

“We’ll open up the grandstand towards the end of that event for people to come in and sit and see but you’ll be able to see it from all over the fairgrounds. It’s going to be kind of on the northeast corner of the race track. You’ll be able to see it from the carnival, see it from food row. I’m just really excited. It’s going to be awesome. We’re going to throw some music to it. It will be fun.”

The Bulls and Broncs event is also something new this year for the Clay County Fair…

“So we’re working with the same promoter. If you came to our Bulls and Brews which was a bull riding-specific event inside the Event Center Arena in March, same producer. We’re adding horses to it and we’re bringing it right up to in front of the grandstand so it’s not going to be on the dirt in the center of the speedway. We’re bringing it right up in front of the grandstand, so you’re going to have a bird’s eye view right on top of all the action. The buckin’ shoots will be on the west end, so if you’re in the grandstand they’ll be to your left near the Events Center, so all of the action will be happening right up there in front of the grandstand. It’s going to be fun.”

The Clay County Fair powered by SMU is September 6th-14th.
