There’s A Brisk Turnout So Far For Early Voting In Dickinson County

October 18, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– In person early voting for the November 5th election began Wednesday in Iowa. Locally, Jordan Moyer who oversees elections for the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office says they’ve been seeing a lot of people come through…

“We’ve had over 700 people walk in since Wednesday the 16th which was the first day that we could start absentee voting in office.”

Moyer says those numbers are above what they were for the same timeframe in the last Presidential election…

“It is a lot busier. We actually looked at the Monday before the election back in 2020. We voted about 373 people and this Wednesday we voted 379 so I’d says there’s quite a few more people walking in. It also helps that we have four people helping us in the office with our volunteer staff coming in to help.”

The in-person absentee voting is taking place in the Supervisor’s Room at the Dickinson County Courthouse. It’s open during regular hours Monday through Friday and will also be open the Saturday before the election, November 2nd.

The Okoboji Community Schools will be hosting a satellite voting station Monday, October 21st from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Okoboji Elementary School.
