(Okoboji)-The Spirit of Harmony Chorus will perform this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Spirit of Harmony Chorus will present their Fall Concert at the Pearson Lakes Art Center on Saturday afternoon.
Director Judy Weipert says, the award-winning group will perform a wide variety of music. “The title song, Let’s Sing Again, that’s just a favorite, and Happy and Happy Together and Smile, Lazy Day, Java Jive, Rockin’ Robin and True Colors. So, a lot of fun stuff. There are going to be two chapter quartets performing, also. The Peppers, which is sort of a brand new quartet, and my quartet, Affinity. We are the second place regional winners from this year, so it’s going to be a top notch show.”
She adds that the group will compete in an International Competition next year. “This year, we had a virtual competition. We had to have it recorded and send it in, but as a result, we actually won that contest. So, now we are on tap to compete in Louisville, Kentucky in the Fall of 2023. So, that’s a first for us to be able to actually win that contest and be able to sing on the International Stage.”
The concert will start at 1 o’clock an Saturday afternoon.
