The Pearson Lakes Art Center Shares New Shows in their Galleries

June 30, 2025

(Spirit Lake) The Pearson Lakes Art Center has a beautiful art gallery and Daniele Clouse Gast, the Visual Arts Director at the PLAC says every gallery has new shows.

“As soon as you walk in right away you see very colorful work by Sioux Falls artist Mary Payton. She’s actually an artist with a neurological disorder that affected her about two years that makes what she sees isn’t what we all see and that filter translates into how she paints and also has some very colorful vibrant work in working with recycled objects for that. So that’s the first thing people see when they come into the art center for that exhibit.”

Clouse Gast talks about another new show.

“We have the new show in the Monte Pearson Gallery by artist Carl Wesley and Carl is specializing in mixed media, pop culture and music and that sort of thing and a very vibrant exhibit in that gallery as well. So that first floor, lots to see.”

Clouse Gast says they are featuring Betty Haight in the Goodenow Gallery.

“These are really exceptional works of art and then. They’re wallpaper books that have been re-purposed for Betty as she paints on the pages and viewers can flip through the book pages and then they have boxes with them as well. And then next door she is part of a show, a three person show, with cigar boxes that the artists have painted on and that’s in our ball gallery. So there’s a lot to see at the Art Center right now.

All of these visual arts shows are free and you can see all the information at lakesart.org. Tune in at 3:30 every Tuesday for the Pearson Lakes Art Center Spotlight on FM 104 KUOO.
