(Arnolds Park)-The Nadas will open the show Saturday night. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Nadas will return to the Iowa Great Lakes to perform at The Okoboji Blue Water Festival.
Mike Butterworth and Jason Walsmith started the band over 30 years ago, and Walsmith says they produced a new record last year. “It’s called Come Along for the Ride, we put it out last August so it’s not quite a year old, which means, for us, we still call it our new record and I feel like we’re still introducing it to people. So, we’ll play some songs off of that new record but we’ll also play some crowd favorites at that show.”
The guys add that Michell Walsmith and Emma Butterworth are following in their parent’s footsteps. “One of the new songs on our new record, called The Other Side of the 45, and it kind of is a cautionary tale to the younger generation of musicians, specifically our kids, but also kind of just anybody who is starting out, but, it’s like the way to give unsolicited advice in the form of rhyme and metaphor so that maybe it gets sort of absorbed instead of sounds bossy.”
The Nadas will perform at The Okoboji Blue Water Festival Saturday night followed by X Ambassadors and the fireworks.
