Tests Turn Up High Levels Of Nitrates In Everly’s Drinking Water

November 22, 2014

(Everly)– Officials say abnormally high levels of nitrates have been detected in Everly’s drinking water.

The DNR says infants under six months old shouldn’t drink the water and that it shouldn’t be used to mix juice or formula with it. Nitrates can cause serious illness in infants.

They say boiling the water doesn’t help.

Adults and children older than six months can drink the tap water, but pregnant women and people with specific health concerns may wish to consult their doctor before drinking it.

DNR officials say the high levels showed up in a sample taken Wednesday and that efforts were under way to try to correct it.
