(Spirit Lake)– An apparent telephone scam targeted at area businesses is making the rounds.
Several area businesses report receiving phone calls in recent days from someone claiming to represent a Police Chief’s and Sheriff’s association raising money on behalf of law enforcement.
Dickinson county Sheriff Greg Baloun says it’s a scam. He says no local Sheriff’s or Police Chiefs are currently soliciting funds.
Anyone getting such a call should disregard it.
