(Sibley)– A Sheldon man faces multiple charges after putting his vehicle in a ditch near some railroad tracks in Osceola county.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Christopher Granstra was arrested New Year’s Day on charges of public intoxication, person under legal age in possession of alcohol, criminal trespassing, providing false information to a law enforcement officer, creating an immediate safety threat at a railroad crossing and failure to maintain control.
Authorities say a deputy stopped Granstra after seeing him walking along a street in Sibley. While visiting with him the deputy detected an odor of alcohol on Granstra’s breath.
After investigating the deputy determined Granstra had allegedly been driving a vehicle found nearby in a ditch on Northwest Boulevard near 190th Street. The vehicle was on Union Pacific Railroad property and authorities say it was close enough to the tracks to pose a safety threat to the railroad.
Granstra was booked into the Osceola county jail and was released after posting a $1,000 cash bond.
