SW Minnesota Schools Look At Shortened Weeks

November 22, 2014

(Windom, Mn.)– Three southwest Minnesota school districts are looking at a four-day school week to help cut costs.

District officials in Windom, Round Lake-Brewster and Southwest Star Concept at Heron Lake say they could save money on transportation and energy. The Round Lake-Brewster Superintendent says he’s not crazy about the option, but that it may be the best way to respond to reduced state funding.

He says the alternative is deep program cuts.

The Maynard-Clara City-Raymond district in western Minnesota has already implemented a four-day week. Other Minnesota districts are also looking into it.
