SUV, Motorcycle Collision Injures Two

(Spirit Lake)– A collision this (Monday) morning in Spirit Lake involving an S-U-V and a motorcycle sent two people to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say 62-year-old Sherry Kooker of Kansas City, Kansas was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer eastbound on highways 9 and 71 and was attempting to turn left onto Erie Avenue when she collided with a westbound 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 32-year-old John Haisman of Spirit Lake. Haisman and a passenger on his motorcycle, Natasha Jurgensen of Spirit Lake, were both taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. No injuries were reported to Kooker.

Kooker was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn. Haisman was cited for not having a valid motorcycle license.

The collision took place around 8:00 a.m.

The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Okoboji Police Department, Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics; and the Spirit Lake First Responders.
