(Spencer)– An investigation last week into a report of suspicious activity along a road in Clay county resulted in multiple arrests.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 9:00 pm Wednesday after getting a report of a vehicle stopped on the side of the road in the 4300 mile of Highway 71 and a person in a ditch nearby. Upon arriving a deputy reported smelling marijuana and alcohol coming from the vehicle and saw open containers of beer in the vehicle and in the ditch where a man was standing. The deputy also reported seeing a baggie of marijuana in the vehicle.
Upon investigating it was determined the occupants had allegedly been smoking marijuana and consuming alcohol. A search turned up tobacco products, open containers of alcohol, and drug paraphernalia.
19-year-old Jimmy Urbina and 20-year-old Maical Ponce-Urbina were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana. 21-year-old Winor Ponce-Urbina was charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license, no insurance, and open container. A 17-year-old male juvenile was cited for minor in possession of tobacco, possession of a controlled substance…marijuana, minor in possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released to an adult. 20-year-old Justo Renan Ponce-Urbina was charged with minor in possession of tabboco and minor in possession of alcohol. He was released pending a future court appearance. Justo De Jesus Ponce-Urbina was charged with open container.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department. A press release doesn’t say where the suspects are from.
