Suspects Arrested In Church, School Burglaries

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– An investigation into burglary reports from the Clay Central-Everly School and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, both in Royal, has resulted in the arrests of two men and a juvenile.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received the burglary reports Tuesday.

In the school incident, authorities say multiple rooms had been ransacked, glass was broken, shaving cream was sprayed and items appeared to have been prepared to be stolen.

In the church incident, deputies say windows were broken, multiple rooms were ransacked and an electronic device and miscellaneous paperwork was stolen.

Upon further investigation authorities learned the St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal had also been entered and that some doors had been damaged in an attempt to enter secure areas. No items were believed to be taken there.

In what’s believed to be a related incident, the Sheriff’s Office says it also received a report of a car that had been broken into in Everly. An electronic device was reported missing from it.

Based on tips from local citizens and cooperation from various law enforcement agencies, authorities arrested 18-year-old Kyle Frederick of Ruthven; 18-year-old Dalton Lorenzen of Milford and 17-year-old Torrey Ginger of Everly. Each was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree…class “D” felonies; and criminal trespass…a simple misdemeanor.

Fredericks and Lorenzen were being held in the Clay county jail on bond of $5,000 each; Ginger is being held at the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee.

Authorities say additional charges are pending as their investigation continues.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in its investigation by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and the Hartley and Sutherland Police Departments.
