Suspect Arrested After Jumping From Roof Of Garage

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A domestic disturbance Saturday in Spencer sent a suspect wanted in connection with the incident to the hospital, then to jail.

Spencer police say it started shortly before 6:00 p.m. when officers were called to a disturbance in the 900 block of East 4th Street. Upon arriving officers were told the suspect had left the residence on foot. While they were looking for the suspect, authorities received a second 911 call reporting a man had gotten onto the roof of a garage in the 800 block of East 7th Street and then literally jumped off it. The man then got up and walked away. The description of that man fit the description of the suspect wanted in connection with the domestic assault. About a minute later, officers located the man walking in the 600 block of 7th Avenue East. He was apprehended following a short foot pursuit.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Peterson of Spencer, was detained by authorities and was transported to Spencer Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained from the jump. He was then transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Peterson was arrested on a warrant by Sioux Falls police upon being released from the hospital. He’s being held on charges of domestic abuse assault…a class “D” felony, child endangerment…also a class “D” felony, interference with official acts, and a probation violation.

Peterson is being held in Sioux Falls pending extradition back to Spencer.
