(Spirit Lake)– A drainage and street project in the East Okoboji Beach area has the green light to proceed.
The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors awarded a bid on the project at their meeting today (Tues.).
The low bid of $3,259,144.07 was submitted by Beck Excavating of Spirit Lake. It was one of seven bids submitted on the project.
The bid came in under the engineer’s estimate of $3,741,885.
The area will be divided into three different segments, with construction limited to one segment at a time. Construction in each segment is expected to last six to eight weeks.
Engineers overseeing the project for the county added access will be maintained at all times to a boat ramp in the area.
The project will include low impact development components. Most of those will be completed in 2010.
The project is being financed through a tax increment finance district that’s in place in that area.
Work on the project is to get underway this spring and is expected to continue into late summer or early fall.
