(Arnolds Park)– Here’s another sign of spring: The Spirit Lake Sunrise Kiwanis Club car has fallen through the ice on Smith’s Bay.
It apparently happened sometime either very late Wednesday night or early this (Thursday) morning.
John Salewski of the Sunrise Kiwanis tells KUOO news they won’t know the winner of the $1,000 prize until the car has been retrieved. He says the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue team along with Bob’s Tow and Repair is scheduled to do that between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Salewski says they’ll retrieve the clock at that time to determine the time it actually went down.
Last year the car went down already in mid-March.
