(Spencer)– Clay county authorities say high wind was a factor in a semi tractor-trailer mishap late Wednesday morning on County Road M50, or the east Spencer bypass.
Authorities say 58-year-old Ron Martin of Des Moines was driving a 2000 Volvo tractor trailer northbound when the trailer was caught by a strong gust of wind, causing Martin to lose control. The rig went into the west ditch, remaining upright. It came to rest about 50 meters into a field.
Martin was transported to Spencer Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Minimal damage was reported to the tractor and trailer.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department, Dickens Fire and Rescue and Spencer paramedics.
The incident took place shortly after 11:30 a.m.
