Storm Lake Man Sentenced On Federal Firearm Charge

November 22, 2014

(Sioux City)– A Storm Lake man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison after being convicted of a federal firearms charge.

28-year-old Kou Vue was sentenced last week after he admitted at a change of plea hearing to possessing three firearms and ammunition. Court documents state Vue had handled, claimed ownership of, showed off to friends and fired the weapons in Storm Lake, Cherokee and Spencer.

Court documents state that law enforcement discovered the weapons while executing a consent search of Vue’s home after his wife reported that Vue had endangered her children and that there were several firearms in the residence.

Vue was convicted of intermediate battery resulting in substantial bodily harm in Wisconsin in 2003.

In addition to the prison sentence, Vue must also serve a three term of supervised release and is prohibited from associating or being in the company of any gang members without prior approval from his probation officer.

Vue is being held in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
