Storm Lake Man Charged With Sexual Exploitation Of A Child

(Sioux City)– A Storm Lake man has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child. The charge against 46-year-old Jaime Almazan is contained in a federal indictment unsealed February 24th in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.

The indictment alleges that between July and October 2011, Almazan used, persuaded, induced and enticed a minor child under the age of 18 to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of it.

If convicted, Almazan faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment with a possible maximum of 30 years, a $250,000 fine, and atleast 5 years and up to life on supervised release following any imprisonment.

Almazan appeared Monday in federal court and was ordered held without bond. The case is scheduled to go to trial May 7th.
