(Spirit Lake)– A winter storm system has dropped more than a foot of snow on some parts of the region. 7.5 inches was measured here at the KUOO studios as of 5:30 am this (Friday) morning, with a report of a foot of snow in Ruthven. Some of the snowfall between 9:00 and 10:00 pm Thursday was accompanied by lightning and thunder. Snowfall rates during that time were in the range of almost 2 inches per hour.
While the accumulating snowfall has ended, tricky travel conditions are likely to continue for awhile today. Schools throughout the region have two hour late starts.
